UK FORKLIFT SALES ON THE RISE
BITA (the British Industrial Truck Association) has announced that forklift truck sales in the UK increased by 24% in 2010, marking the first annual rise for three years and suggesting an improvement in fortunes for an industry that has experienced falling sales throughout the economic downturn.
BITA says that IC-engine counterbalance trucks had the biggest increase, with orders up by 30%. Electric ride-on warehouse equipment, dominated by reach trucks, increased by 29%, while electric counterbalanced trucks orders were up by 22%. Pedestrian trucks also saw a decent increase, finishing the year with a rise of 15%.
