Toyota Cleaning Up
Good news for Toyota is that the Japanese automotive giant has closed the gap in the race with Fiat to be Europe’s greenest brand. Toyota showed an impressive reduction in the average carbon dioxide emissions from its fleet in 2009 and now trails Fiat by just a small margin.
According to UK-based market researcher JATO Dynamics, having slashed its average CO2 emissions to 130.1 grams per kilometer last year, from 144.9g/km in 2008, Toyota moved ahead of Citroen, Renault and Peugeot. Fiat’s average CO2 emissions were 127.8g/km in 2009, just ahead of Toyota.
