TELEHANDLER SAFETY WARNING
Edinburgh…
Following a recent fatal accident in Scotland, the third similar fatality in the last 7 years, the H&SE has issued a warning to all users of telehandlers of the danger of not replacing windows broken or missing on these machines.
Apparently the 36-year-old man was killed when he leaned through the broken right-side window aperture – and was crushed by the boom as it descended alongside the cab. In the two earlier incidents the operator is thought to have been leaning out of the window aperture and to have also leaned on the boom control joystick, inadvertently lowering the boom onto themselves.
