Netwatch’s innovative eco-friendly mobile security unit for locations where power is a challenge

Netwatch’s innovative eco-friendly mobile security unit for locations where power is a challenge

Carlow-based Netwatch Group, a world leader in proactive video monitoring, has launched the EcoCommander, an innovative, eco-friendly mobile security unit for any location where power is a challenge.
No matter how inhospitable the location, the EcoCommander provides a sustainable energy solution, bringing its own power and connectivity to protect people and assets in vulnerable locations.
This security solution is ideal for construction sites where power is not yet available, remote areas without access to electricity and for areas that are difficult to get to, regardless of the terrain.
The EcoCommander is powered by a Netwatch Fuel Cell and uses CO2-produced Methanol, a carbon neutral energy source. The Netwatch Fuel Cell constantly monitors the system energy status and will automatically maintain a sufficient energy supply, providing power for up to 3 months.
Mick Lowry, Technical Operations Manager at Netwatch said: “We needed to provide a reliable power supply to keep critical security systems ‘live’ for a sustained period of time, with an environmentally friendly energy source and low maintenance requirements. With the EcoCommander we have an accessible power source that will offer prolonged periods of power to these inhospitable locations.”
He added that the EcoCommander can be commissioned, deployed and operational at short notice and has evolved based on feedback from Netwatch engineers’ onsite experience and users of the well-established original Commander Unit.
“Uptime is a critical factor for our mobile security units, so without access to mains electricity we have to provide an alternative – they need to be deployed quickly, kept live for good lengths of time and allow our Hub team to monitor effectively.”
He said that the Netwatch EcoCommander provides a robust and mobile way to protect customers assets as well as the environment.

Eco-Friendly Security
As a business Netwatch is conscious of the impact of its activity on the wider community and the environment. The Commanders are produced locally to the headquarters in Carlow, with the outer unit made of galvanised steel, a robust recyclable material, that has a long-life span with resistance to rust and corrosion.
The unit has low maintenance needs and can be self-sufficient for up to 3 months. This EcoCommander is quiet during operation and can be integrated into discreet surroundings where necessary. The solution is fuelled by Methanol, a clean and sustainable fuel, with low carbon emissions.

Real-time protection
The detection technology within the EcoCommander can identify a threat within seconds, an alarm is then sent to the Netwatch Communication Hubs where Intervention Specialists can issue a real-time audio warning, before an intrusion takes place or damage is caused.
It provides the same leading response as with all Netwatch Systems, and Intervention Specialists will alert the local Gardai to an incident where necessary. If any intruder is still in the area when the Gardai arrive they can remotely direct the Gardai to the suspects still in camera range.
Another benefit, said Mick Lowry, is that “often the threat to a remote site is around public safety concerns, so along with warning away potential criminals, the Intervention Specialists will assist by issuing a safety warning to innocent trespassers, ensuring their wellbeing and a safe environment for the business.”
Netwatch is a world leader in proactive video monitoring.  It has almost 20 years’ experience from its Irish and global operations, which currently monitor in the region of 300,000 sites throughout the world.
