‘HORRIFIC YEAR’ ON FARMS
The Health and Safety Authority says that there will be an increase in farm safety visits in 2011 – and a decrease in construction workplace safety visits. The increase in farm safety visits follows a “horrific year” on farms in 2010, which saw 26 lives lost.
Chief Executive Martin O’Halloran says that the H&SA Programme of Work for 2011 is geared towards helping small business implement effective workplace health and safety practices in as straightforward a way as possible. The Authority will implement a new free online tool to enable small businesses plan their health and safety activity without the need for specialist expertise.
