POSITIVE SIGNS FOR FORKLIFTS

According to figures recently released by the Jungheinrich Group, worldwide demand for materials handling equipment was up 45 percent in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the same period a year earlier. Asia recorded the strongest rise, with sales advancing there by 86%.

Jungheinrich, which operates manufacturing facilities worldwide, says it expects the recovery in the handling industry to continue. Looking to the end of this year, the group projects that the world market for forklift trucks will reach in excess of 650,000 units in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent.
